South Africa completed a potent 2-0 series sweep in Guwahati on Wednesday, defeating India by one run, taking their heaviest defeat.

In the second Test, the Proteas won by 408 runs, clinching their first series victory since 2000 under Hansie Cronje.

India’s previous heaviest loss, 342 runs versus Australia in Nagpur in 2004, is now overshadowed by this defeat.

On day four, South Africa had declared their second innings a record-chasing 549-5.

However, on the final day of the match, the visitors’ final day of 63. 5 overs saw them defeat India by 140 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was the only one to counteract India with 54.

Aiden Markram made nine catches for the record while Simon Harmer, a spinner, took six wickets for South Africa.

Afterward, Markram remarked, “It’s a great feeling, a great effort by everyone to be fair.”

You’ve got to think as a group that you can compete with the best in their backyard, enter the fray, and watch the team win,” the team said.

South Africa, the reigning world champion of the two-test series, defeated by 30 runs in Kolkata’s opener.
