Shona McGarty’s mum appears to have given Aitch her seal of approval after the actress and musician had grown close on I’m A Celebrity amid rumours of romance
Shona McGarty’s mum has given Aitch her seal of approval. In recent weeks, there has been speculation that the former EastEnders star and Manchester musician could be about to embark on a camp romance.
Last week, Aitch revealed to his pal Angryginge that he had a “soft spot” for the actress who found fame playing Whitney Dean on the BBC One soap opera. And they’ve continued to bond, engaging in a pillow fight, with Aitch also wrapping his legs around Shona.
Now, her mum, Jennifer, has given the musician her seal of approval and admits that she would happily have him around to join the family for dinner. Weeks before jetting to Australia, Shona called off her engagement to Irish musician David Bracken, who first slid into her DMs two years ago.

“She has relaxed into it now which obviously makes me really happy,” her mum Jennifer said. She went on to admit that she loved seeing Shona’s bubbly personality come out during the pillow fight and the actress being her “natural self.”
And after Shona and Aitch were spotted holding hands, the rumours, championed by hosts Ant and Dec continued to go into overdrive. Speaking to The Sun, Jennifer added: “I think they are very similar characters, they’ve both got that playfulness. He is a lovely boy. We would definitely invite him over for dinner.”
Earlier this week, Shona’s sister, Camila, told the Mirror that she needed to see more of her sibling and Aitch to determine whether there was a romantic connection. She said: “I don’t know if I see it romantically… It might just be a brother and sister relationship but I don’t know…I don’t think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it.”
Fans on social media have also been championing a romantic relationship between Shona and Aitch after watching their friendship blossom. “May as well put Aitch and Shona together. They fancy f**k out each other,” said one. A second added: “Shona getting Aitch to look into her eyes this the moment they fall in love?”
Meanwhile, a third typed: “My hopeless romantic self says Aitch lost the trial vs Ainge on purpose so he could go home with Shona.” While a fourth added: “Me getting giddy every time Aitch and Shona interact, and now they’re staring into each other’s eyes.”
Aitch is also single after splitting with Lois Cottam before going into the Jungle. A source told the Sun over the weekend: “Aitch and Lois still have a lot of love for each other but they decided they are better off as friends.
“They enjoyed the time they spent together, things ended amicably between them. There’s no bad blood and she hopes he does well in the jungle.”
Dec previously said he was shell-shocked by Aitch’s comments when he watched the scenes shortly before they aired on Friday night. He said: “This came completely out of the blue this morning.” Ant added: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper romance on this show. We’d love to see it….we would celebrate it.”
