IGP Mourns Niger Explosion Victims, Urges Adherence To Road Safety Protocols

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and the good people of Niger State following the tragic tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday at Dikko Junction, Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, Niger State. &nbsp,

The IGP issued a statement, which was signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, and called for strict adherence to safety protocols on our roads.

The IGP added that working with other traffic management agencies to ensure strict compliance and enforcement of established protocols and traffic regulations on highways, the IGP has instructed all State Commissioners of Police to strengthen their Motor Traffic Divisions (MTDs) of their respective State Commands.

In order to prevent tragedies, the IGP charged driver and vehicle owners with making sure their vehicles are roadworthy and follow the traffic regulations.

The IGP pleaded with all stakeholders, including transportation companies and the general public, to place a higher value on safety and responsibility in their operations and actions in order to prevent such ugly incidents from occurring in the future while praying for the souls of the deceased.

A deadly tanker explosion that left 86 people dead has caused the community to cry in the area and raise questions about safety measures in the area.
