
Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, the chief of the army, has reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare of all army personnel.
Under his leadership, he believes that the safety of soldiers and their families is still top of mind.
Oluyede assured reporters that this assurance would be provided when he finished his three-day operational visit to the 6th Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Army Chief stated that the tour’s primary goal was to meet with troops and important stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to assess the operational readiness of the division’s formations as well as to communicate with them.
He claimed that the visit gave him a firsthand understanding of the difficulties soldiers face while performing their duties.
He believes that maintaining high morale and effectiveness in the conduct of military operations requires ensuring their welfare.

Because I am very particular about the well-being of my soldiers and their families, I want to examine the level of my soldiers’ welfare particularly.
And so, I am going to address the challenges within the scope of resources that the army leader has available. I promise my soldiers that I’ll do everything in my power to improve their lives thanks to the Federal Government. He said, “I think my purpose was accomplished because of this,” and he said, “I think my purpose has been realized.”
The Chief of Army Staff also commissioned a number of projects during the tour, including the renovated 29 Battalion Quarter Guard, the newly renovated 6 Division Administration Building, a Filling Station, Python Harmony House, the 6 Division Guard Room, two blocks of Corporal Below Quarters, and the newly renovated 6 Division Administration Building.
Additionally, he added some amenities to the Elele Barracks.
