The World Team defeated Japan in their singles matches to finish third overall at the LPGA Tour’s International Crown competition. England’s Charley Hull and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko won their matches.
In the final, Australia triumphed for the first time in the biennial competition beating the United States.
In their singles matches, world number three Minjee Lee defeated Angel Yin and Hannah Green defeated Yealimi Noh.
With a prize pot of $2 million (1, 502, 855), the tournament brings together seven national teams and the world team, each made up of four players from the matchplay competition.
Three-time major winner Lee expressed his delight at being able to do it with these girls, saying it was “a lot of fun all week.”
“We don’t get to play matchplay too frequently,” says the statement.
In the semi-finals on Sunday, the USA defeated Japan, while Australia defeated the World Team.
