Helen Flanagan has hit back to criticism after being mum-shamed online for enjoying a night out with her boyfriend, former footballer Robbie Talbot, 45, and his 14-year-old daughter, Sophie. The trio attended the launch of Kyma Nightclub in Crosby, an event that allowed the 34-year-old some time to bond with Robbie’s teenage daughter.
Sharing moments from the night on Instagram, Helen posted a sweet photo of herself with Sophie, both smiling for the camera. Looking elegant in a black velvet mini dress with diamanté details, the mum-of-three paired it with sheer glossy tights, while Sophie opted for a striking red mini dress.
Some critics criticized Helen’s night out, questioning her parenting, not to mention the lighthearted evening. One commenter asked, “Where’s the boyfriend? Hope the kids are being looked after”, implying that Helen was neglecting her responsibilities.
However, Helen’s fans were quick to rush to her defence. One supporter sarcastically remarked, “No, she left them alone. Jesus, mums aren’t allowed a night out”! Others questioned why similar scrutiny isn’t directed at fathers, with one writing, “Would you say the same thing to a father? Get a grip”.
The former Corrie actress again posted after the night out, offering her own opinions on the subject. Sharing a hilarious post from Mancunian actor Mark Massett, a rehash of their hatred, with the Haters. It was titled “Moms when it’s Half Term,” showcasing him wearing a blonde wig and hiding in the bathroom for a cigarette and a glass of wine while their children could be audibly yelling at him for their attention.
Helen shares three children, Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three, with her ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair, while Robbie has Sophie and Carina, 10, from a previous relationship. One of her supporters said, “Are you saying once a woman has children she can never leave the house,” and she continued to counteract the negativity. Another user added, “Seriously? Do you believe that the sink in the kitchen should be a woman’s object? Grow up”.
Despite the backlash, Helen appeared unbothered, enjoying the evening and thanking Kyma Nightclub for the invitation in her Instagram caption. Many followers also praised her appearance, calling her and Sophie “absolutely stunning” and “gorgeous”.
Despite appearing on the E4 dating program Celebs Go Dating, Helen shocked fans last September when she revealed she actually had a secret boyfriend. The couple then embarked on a difficult-hitting trip to Spain to rekindle their relationship.
Following the breakdown of her relationship with Scott Sinclair, Helen decided to join Celebs Go Dating. After a ten years, the couple split in 2022, having three children together. Before falling in love with Robbie, Helen had a brief romance with boxer David Haye after their split.
During an episode of the series, Helen dropped the bombshell news she has a ‘ secret boyfriend’. The experts were shocked when Helen, who was not even on the show, admitted to being “in love” with the former sports star. The mum-of-three dropped the bombshell during a fast-flirting event on the series.
Due to her lack of interest in the men she was paired with, Helen’s game appeared to be struggling. She eventually revealed her relationship with Robbie and dropped her bombshell news.
