Patrice Evra, a former player for Manchester United and France, will make his mixed martial arts debut Friday, May 23 at PFL Europe Paris.

The 43-year-old quit playing football in 2018 and has trained with friend and PFL player Cedric Doumbe since 2016.

Evra’s opponent has not yet been announced for the Accor Arena fight.

Evra, who has 81 caps for France, tweeted that “they will pick my opponent.” They inquired about my face. Luis Suarez, I said.

I’ll have to pay out of pocket. He even bites me.

Suarez, who then played for Liverpool, was given an eight-game ban for racist abuse of Evra, who was playing for United in 2011.

Evra continued, “I love this game too,”’ she said in the PFL press release about the announcement.

“PFL Europe Paris will be an incredibly special night for me because I’ve won every major trophy in football and performed on the biggest stages around the world.”

They will also tell you that I’m prepared for this because I’ve been training alongside the best people in the world for years. Come see the spectacle at the Accor Arena on May 23rd because I’m going to put on a show there.

Between 2006 and 2014, Evra won five Premier League titles and the Champions League while playing 379 games for Manchester United.

He also played for a number of clubs in France and Italy, including Juventus and Monaco, before wrapping up his career with a quick stop at West Ham.

He has worked as a TV pundit since he retired.
