Harry Potter reboot is being developed by HBO, and there have been theories about potential actors reprising the roles played by our childhood heroes.
HBO announced they’re creating a Harry Potter series, with a team of people currently working on casting the perfect stars to play our childhood favourites. It was recently reported that the likes of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu will be joining the show as Professor Albus Dumbledore, Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Professor Severus Snape, respectively.
While many people were divided on the casting because they were used to watching the original actors on television, one particular internet user has so far correctly predicted the cast members who will appear on the HBO show. They also anticipated Paapa’s potential portrayal of Snape, despite the fact that they had anticipated John Lithgow’s casting as Dumbledore.

The user, who posts on Reddit, has also claimed Nick Frost will be playing the loveable and loyal half-giant, Rubeus Hagrid. Fans loved the idea, writing in the comment section: “He’s been one of the most popular fancasts for the role since the show was announced. Perfect casting if it’s true.”
Another fan added: “If that’s true, I’ll watch it just for that reason alone.” One Harry Potter fan commented: “Great choice, he’ll definitely bring the warmth and humour Hagrid needs.
There are some castings that people will enjoy immediately, while others will detest, according to the actress. Nick is in talks to join the cast, according to Deadline, which wasn’t until the day.
The 52-year-old actor first sparked Hagrid speculation following a cryptic Instagram post, which he shared on 20 March. Alongside a selfie of him glaring into the camera, Frost penned: “It’s happening, it’s actually happening. Stay cool.”
Nick may have followed rumored Harry Potter co-stars John and Paapa on Instagram, which is another possible indication that he is now a member of the cast.
HBO stated in a statement shared with Deadline that “we understand that such a highly regarded series will sputter a lot of rumors and rumors.” We will only confirm details as we work through the details of the deals as we go through them.
It was first reported that John was close to finalising a deal to play Albus Dumbledore, the enigmatic and powerful headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry – a claim later confirmed by Lithgow himself in an interview with Screen Rant.
Warner Bros. In an upcoming TV series, Discovery is looking for new actors to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione, with an open casting notice stating they are looking for actors between the ages of 9 and 11 as of April 2025.
Fans were promised a “faithful adaptation,” according to Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content. “of the adored Harry Potter series.” He stated, “This new Max Original series will go into each of the enduring classics that fans have enjoyed for all of these years.
Bloys revealed plans for the project that would “contradict the one season per book theory,” despite initial reports that it would focus on one book from the seven-part series.
