Harry and Meghan hug LA fire victims after going into ‘crisis mode’ during evacuation
The devastation caused by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles has been spotted by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
In the tragic fires that have swept the area, including A-listers like Paris Hilton and Anthony Hopkins, thousands of people have lost their homes. The Sussexes recently disclosed that they had opened their Montecito home to close friends and family members who had been forced to move out. The couple are also believed to have donated supplies to people affected by the blazes, including clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies.
Now, they have been spotted in conversation with victims of the travesty. The Pasadena Convention Center, which is being used as an evacuation center, was where the duo was seen handing out food packages on Friday. They were seen hugging the founder of World Central Kitchen, Jose Andres, as the organisation distributes meals to victims.
Harry was seen sporting a black baseball cap and black shirt while Meghan was seen wearing a light blue shirt and a blue baseball cap. The pair were also seen greeting Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, who applauded their appearance and efforts.
He called the former royals “great people” with “great personalities”, before adding: “They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders. People were delighted to see the command post when we visited them at the Rose Bowl.
According to sources close to the Sussexes, they are also ready to enter “crisis mode” if they need to leave their homes as a result of the fires. Their security team is said to have been coordinating an evacuation plan while packing essentials for their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
The fire is moving quickly and we are not risking anything, according to a neighbor who recently commented. Public safety survival kits have been provided to the couple and their neighbors. In them there is a solar charger, flashlight and protective equipment. There is also ice, water, snacks and safety pamphlets.
Harry and Meghan had spoken in public about supporting a list of fire service charities, animal charities, and other initiatives prior to their appearance. In a statement, the couple said: “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life. A state of emergency has been declared. Here are some resources and ideas if you feel compelled to help.
The couple continued: “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. Also, make sure to check in with any elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they need assistance evacuating. Some individuals and families have had nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys &, clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is assisting those in need wherever they are.
To date, there have been 10 fatalities in California as a result of the string of significant fires that have decimated communities. Additionally, they have caused thousands of people to flee their homes, including in neighborhoods with famous faces.
Paris Hilton, who claimed she watched her home’s destruction being filmed live on television, has remained updated on the destruction. In a heartbreaking Instagram upload, the socialite described the fires as looking like “hell” on earth. In a story that included a clip of the destruction, she wrote, “Heartbroken to find out what happened to my house by watching it burned to the ground live TV.”
“Heartbroken beyond words”, she continued. No one should ever have to go through the experience of watching our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV while watching the news with my family. She added: “This home was where we built so many precious memories. Phoenix and I both dreamed of creating memories in London forever, and this is where Phoenix first took his first steps.
” While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe. Every family impacted by these fires is in my heart and is in my thoughts.
