After a 15-point deduction appeal was rejected, Hamilton Academical’s relegation from the Scottish Championship was confirmed by an independent tribunal.

The South Lanarkshire club fell to the bottom of the Scottish Professional Football League after being ordered to pay a number of violations last month.

Accies are eight points adrift of Lanarkshire rivals Airdrieonians with one game left before Falkirk’s leaders take the field on Friday.

The board will communicate with supporters in early stages, but SPFL regulations prevent it from making any further comments on the subject.

Hamilton was found guilty of four offenses, including not paying players and acting in good faith when negotiating with the governing body to remove a previous transfer ban, by an independent disciplinary tribunal.

Following Accies’ announcement to move to Clyde’s former home at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, the appeal decision comes just hours after they reveal they plan to leave New Douglas Park in the middle of a dispute over the stadium’s ownership and rental.
