Lewis Hamilton claims that it was the “hardest decision of his life” to end Roscoe, his 12-year-old bulldog.

After being admitted to a hospital last week with pneumonia, Roscoe passed away in Hamilton’s arms on Sunday evening.

Since missing a Formula 1 tire test on Friday, Ferrari driver Hamilton has been on life support.

Roscoe’s heart stopped when he was put in a coma after taking a sedative to perform tests.

Hamilton, who gave the news to his 40. m Instagram followers, wrote: “I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. After four days on life support, we had to fight with every bit of strength he had.”

“It’s a wonderful and honor for me to have lived with such a lovely soul, an angel, and true friend.

I will always cherish the memories we created together, and I think bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Hamilton took Roscoe in 2013, along with Coco, a second bulldog. The dog died in a suspected heart attack in 2020 after being informed by Breeders that Coco’s life would be hampered by issues relating to her birth.

Hamilton, who shared photos of Roscoe’s life on Instagram, said, “I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have.”

“I feel a strong connection to everyone who has lost a beloved pet because it was one of the most agonizing experiences.”

Being so deeply loved and being loved in return was one of life’s most beautiful aspects, despite how difficult it was.
