In response to growing concerns about national security, governors from across Nigeria are currently gathered in Abuja for a Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) emergency meeting.
Numerous state governors and deputy governors from all the federation’s 36 states are present at the meeting, which is taking place at the Forum’s secretariat in Abuja. .
The presence of the Minister of Defense, Mohammed Badaru, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, clearly indicates that discussions are focused on pressing security issues.
In a number of places around the country, there are growing calls for coordinated action from both federal and state authorities as a result of the emergency session.

Governors Support State Police
The Progressive Governors’ Forum is supporting President Bola Tinubu in responding to the country’s growing security concerns, just as it is urging state governors to use community policing to protect their states.
Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State and the forum’s chairman, says the governors are also considering the issue of state police in accordance with the recommendations of Benue State governor Hyacinth Alia.
In order to assist President Tinubu in addressing the security issues facing the country, Governor Uzodimma added that the forum will continue to support him.
Alia had stated that she was also committed to supporting the establishment of state police as a long-term solution to the persistent insecurity in our state and perhaps elsewhere during Tinubu’s visit to Benue.
