Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has granted an Ondo State prisoner’s pardon.

This administration considered the list of convicts deserving of the governor of Ondo State on December 24, 2024 after having time to fulfill the state advisory council’s request for mercy.

“And I am using that authority, that authority that was given to me when I was sentenced or detained for a number of offences, on this day.” I’m freeing a total of 43 of them today.

Around 12:59 p.m., Aiyedatiwa took his oath of office just after Olayide Adelami, his running mate.

Two months after he won the governorship election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, the ceremony took place at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital.

Governor Aiyedatiwa promised that he and his deputy would not let their luck slip when he claimed his administration had restored public confidence in the government.

We want to let you know that the overwhelming new mandate you’ve freely given to us has added a lot to our leadership responsibilities, and that we’re never going to let them go.

We make the solemn promise to lead and govern with the utmost devotion to the advancement of the state on this day, along with my deputy. We will give priority to the well-being of our people, especially those who are the poor, sick, and marginalized, as they are particularly vulnerable.

In addition, he pledged to make the state’s economy stronger over the course of the next four years.

We will collaborate with our development partners and interested investors to ensure that Port Ondo becomes a reality over the next four years.

Aiyedatiwa said, “We will also make it easier for investors to explore our significant deposit of bitumen for local use and export purposes, generating a sizable profit for the state.”
