For the home World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Belarus, Craig Gordon has made a second appearance in the Scotland squad.

The 42-year-old goalkeeper hasn’t played since early May because he’s back in full fitness after a neck injury. He hasn’t made a Hearts squad this season.

Gordon, who has been capped 81 times, joins club-mate Zander Clark, who has also left, along with Blackburn Rovers’ central defender Dominic Hyam and Derby County full-back Max Johnston.

After drawing with Denmark at goal and beating Belarus in Hungary with a 2-0 victory, Scotland now leads by four points.

Three days later, Belarus will play at Hampden Park on October 9 while the Greeks will play in Glasgow, with both games broadcast live on the BBC.

Greece have fond memories of their most recent trip to Hampden, where they defeated Belarus before falling to Denmark in Athens.

In what was Gordon’s most recent international appearance, the visitors comfortably defeated the visitors 3-0 in the Nations League play-off match, which ended with a 1-0 lead from the first leg of the match.

With the addition of Tommy Conway and Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, who has scored seven goals this season, in head coach Steve Clarke’s squad, there is no room for either.

After a month away, Anthony Ralston, who also withdrew from the previous squad, along with fellow Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney, made his team’s debut over the weekend.
