Gino D’Acampo’s split from wife, ‘naughty’ joke and prison stint for popstar burglary

Gino D’Acampo, a celebrity chef, spent some time behind bars before getting married to his wife.

The 47-year-old Italian star has been accused of inappropriate behavior toward a woman he worked with between 2006 and 2011. In light of the numerous allegations made against BBC MasterChef’s presenter Gregg Wallace, the unnamed woman filed a complaint with ITV bosses last week.

It comes after reports that ITV is slowly cutting off Gino, 48, due to a wave of alleged abuse he committed. After refusing to sign a morality contract clause, he was forced out of Gordon, Gino, and Fred: Road Trip, and concerned executives have taken him on a language and behavior course.

Away from the cameras, Gino has been married to his ‘ first love ‘ Jessica Stellina Morrison for over two decades, and they share three children, Luciano, 22, Rocco, 19, and Mia, 12. The couple’s brief split, however, wasn’t always a good thing because of it.

When Gino was 18 years old and employed by Sylvester Stallone’s Marbella Mambo King restaurant, they first got together. After a brief separation, they got back together in 1995 and tied the knot in 2002.

Gino was sentenced to two years in prison for burgling singer Paul Young’s home four years prior to their wedding. The public only learned about Gino’s previous convictions when he made an appearance on I’m A Celeb. He had stolen £4, 000 worth of guitars, a platinum record, cash and jewellery from Young’s home.

A cigarette butt dropped at the property that led to his arrest was matched to his DNA. Gino decided to seek a fresh start after serving time in prison. He said: “I was a boy, so I decided to get married and then I will be a man”.

Their union, according to Gino, is a “traditional marriage.” He said: “I clean her car every week. Every time the battery drains, I always bring her a bottle of cold water just in case she needs it at night and charge her toothbrush. My wife is a smart woman who knows how to bite her tongue and when to say something.

Gino previously revealed that giving each other space is the key to their happy marriage in an interview with the Daily Star. He said: “We allow each other to have our own lives, that means going on holiday with our friends. My wife and I have dinner together, and we have dinner together because we are business partners. We are very relaxed”.

Gino prefers it that way because he rarely gets to spend time with his wife. “Jessica and I don’t really spend any time together”, he told Love Sunday in 2014. “I think that’s one of the reasons we’ve lasted for 20 years. It’s a good thing, I don’t really want to know everything my wife does, because otherwise she will be boring to me”.

The star joked that romance ‘ isn’t for him ‘ but he buys his wife diamonds when he’s been ‘ naughty’. “I don’t care about flowers or chocolates or anything like that, that’s not me”, he explained. I opine to you. I charge her electric toothbrush, because if I don’t she’ll never do it. I keep her car clean every week and always do the gas because I know she detests it.

Jessica is an expert at cooking Gino’s favourite dish – pasta with aubergine, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. He said: “She always does that for me, especially when she wants to be forgiven. When I want to be forgiven, I’m going for the sweet option, so chocolate cake with homemade ice cream – well, actually, if I’ve been really bad it’s a new car or a diamond”.

Asked how many times he’d begged for forgiveness, Gino laughed: “Let’s put it this way, in the last five years, she’s changed her car three times… I still haven’t changed mine once”.
