After first getting ill the day before, Hollywood legend George Clooney, according to reports, was forced to slack off from his work schedule for the Venice Film Festival.

The 64-year-old actor, who was born in Kentucky and is a member of Noah Baumbach’s competition film Jay Kelly, abruptly ended his press conference on Wednesday and missed a private dinner with the cast and crew, according to reports.

According to insiders, George allegedly began to feel ill in the afternoon and was advised to get some rest before a jam-packed schedule of appearances.

The dad-of-two was snapped getting on a boat and leaving the Hotel Excelsior around 4pm to recover ahead of Thursday’s official press conference and the world premiere of Jay Kelly.

Although the specifics of his condition have not been revealed, insiders have stressed to The Hollywood Reporter that it’s nothing to worry about. His absence resulted in him missing a dinner that saw Noah Baumbach, co-stars Adam Sandler and Laura Dern, and top Netflix executives gather together.

Just hours before, George was spotted arriving at the Lido with Dern, looking his usually suave self in a navy suit, striped shirt, and tinted sunglasses, showing no signs of discomfort. The Mirror has approached George’s team for comment.

George’s mysterious health scare comes just as the actor revealed his plans for upcoming projects. The seasoned heartthrob decided not to make any new rom-coms in March.

The Oscar winner, who has played the romantic lead in movies like One Fine Day (1996) and Ticket To Paradise (2010), said he is not “trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men.”

George reflected on his acting career and Edward R. Murrow’s debut role in the CBS News production Good Night, Good Luck.

“It’s exciting to be on Broadway,” the owner said. Don’t make fun of ourselves. It causes a lot of anxiety. And there are a lot of reasons why it’s foolish,” he said. Because you’re coming out and saying, “Well, let’s try to get an audience to take this ride with you back to 1954,” it’s foolish to do.

The play depicts Senator Joseph McCarthy’s fiery confrontation with Murrow, who tirelessly fought against communism, causing a national hysteria known as the “Second Red Scare.”

George directed the film in 2005 and it was an adaptation of his 2005 Oscar-nominated film of the same name. He reflected on today’s US government’s relationship with the press, saying, “We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare, fine, or use corporations to make journalists smaller.”

Governments never liked the press’s freedom, according to the saying. That includes who you are, whether you’re a conservative, a liberal, or whatever side you’re on. They dislike the press.

The lifelong Democrat also discussed when he asked former president Joe Biden to step down from the race for the White House after he stumbled over his words when he faced now President Donald Trump during a televised debate.

He said, “I was raised telling the truth.” I was surprised when I saw the president at this fundraiser up close. And so, despite all of that, I still feel like there was a lot of cowardice in my party. I wasn’t proud of that, but I also believed I had to tell the truth.

He continued, “Look, I’m 63 years old,” while talking about his career. I’m not attempting to compete with leading men, who are 25 years old. That’s not my job. I’m no longer making romantic movies.

There isn’t a single actor alive who wouldn’t have desired to be a Broadway star, he added. That’s the fun of it, then. The more you age, the more challenging it becomes. Why not, though?
