GB Olympic hockey gold medallist Sherwani dies

Imran Sherwani, who won hockey gold at the 1988 Olympics with Great Britain, passed away at the age of 63.

In the final, he scored twice as GB defeated West Germany 3-1 in Seoul, which caused BBC commentator Barry Davies to remark, “Where were the Germans? ” Who cares, then, to be honest?

Sherwani was given the Alzheimer’s disease in 2019.

Imran Sherwani will forever be regarded as one of England’s and Great Britain Hockey’s true icons, according to Rich Beer, COO of Great Britain Hockey.

His leadership, leadership, and humility “inspired generations of players and fans alike.”

Sherwani played hockey for both GB and England 94 times and was a teacher there.
