FULL LIST: Jagun Jagun, The Weekend, Others Shine At 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards

At the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), the movies Jagun Jagun, Mai Martaba, and The Weekend were nominated for several awards.

On Saturday, November 2, the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos State hosted the 20th edition of the awards, which were hosted by veteran Nollywood actors Segun Arinze and actress Joselyn Dumas from Ghana.

The 12-member jury committee for the awards was led by filmmaker and author Dorothee Wenner.

The Weekend, a family drama starring Daniel Oriahi, won the Best Film Award in the category of Nigeria and Africa.

Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, emerged as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his historical thriller, ‘ Jagun Jagun’.

The Achievement Award went to Jagun Jagun, which attracted seven nominations, for visual effects and makeup.

The best costume designer award went to Mai Martaba, who won. The film, which is directed by Prince Daniel Aboki, explores themes of power, love, greed, and betrayal in an ancient African kingdom while challenging conventional wisdom and honoring female leadership.
