A coroner’s court hearing revealed that former Liverpool women manager Matt Beard had committed suicide at his home.

Before he was taken to the hospital, Beard was allegedly called to a home in Deeside, Flintshire, during a hearing on Monday in Ruthin, North Wales, according to coroner John Griffiths.

Beard, 47, died in hospital at 21: 15 BST on 20 September. A full inquest will be held at a later time after the hearing was adjourned.

In 2013 and 2014, Beard led Liverpool to back-to-back WSL titles.

In 2021, he made a second appearance at the club, but he was fired in February of that year.

After only two months in charge, Beard left in June for Burnley.

Since his passing, there has been a lot of gamer support since.

Before kick-off of all WSL and WSL2 games on Sunday, September 21, Beard was observed a minute’s silence in honor of him. Aston Villa’s game against Liverpool was postponed.

Beard was described as an “icon” by Manchester United manager Marc Skinner, and England legend Fara Williams described him as “one of a kind and had the purest of souls.”
