Fire Guts Ago Medical Centre Lagos
Off Ago Palace Way, Okota, fire destroyed portions of a two-story structure housing the Ago Medical Center.
A power surge that caused a spark to occur when the public electricity supply was restored caused the inferno.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, claimed the organization had contained the raging fire successfully.
Following distress calls received on Oshodi’s 767/111 Emergency Toll-Free Lines at 18.29 hrs on Friday, the agency, in his opinion, activated the state’s emergency plan and its response team from Oshodi.

“Upon arrival at 18.50 hrs, the Eagle Response Team from LASEMA discovered that a hospital’s aforementioned address was undergoing fire damage.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team, the initial cause of the commotion was a power surge that caused a spark to flash when the public electricity supply was restored, “Osanyintolu said.”
He claimed that the incident resulted in neither fatalities nor injuries.
He claimed that the LASEMA Response Team Fire Unit and other responders were working together to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Responders are battling to put off the fire because it is still raging. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, response and recovery operations are in progress.
