Fern Britton, a TV star, enjoys living in Cornwall but admits to missing out on special someone.

She is back in great shape but Fern Britton is not hankering for a TV comeback or a man in her life. Instead she wants to continue to write bestselling books from her Cornwall home. At 67, it is now five years since her 20-year marriage to TV chef Phil Vickery ended, but Fern insists: “I’m not looking for love.

I’m still a little too cautious about losing my freedom, she said. Why don’t I just make my own decision when there isn’t anyone to run something past? On the other hand, I frequently think about running things past people, but it never really worked. The only way to go is then, “I f***ed up there,” I say.

It would be foolish to say that I feel spot on 100% of the time, but I’m feeling pretty good. Cats make wonderful companions, but there are times when I feel quite alone because sitting and writing alone is lonely, which is okay to acknowledge.

A Cornish Legacy, Fern’s eleventh novel, centers on Wilderhoo, a fictional 1, 000-year-old Cornish house that has gone rack and ruin. Fern is speaking to Woman&amp, Home magazine about it.

The main character, who was extremely successful in London and whose life has completely unraveled, must at least be a little autobiographical. She travels to Cornwall to repair this house, the house, and the woman’s relationship.

Fern cites her own recent improvements in health and weight loss as evidence that “people frequently wonder whether losing a lot of weight has come naturally.” And I can say, “Yes, I have,” as you can see. I had my shoulder replaced 18 months ago, and two-and-a-half years ago, the surgeon told me, “I’m going to completely replace your shoulder, I’ll see you in a year.” I

I needed to restart my life, I thought. I need to stop smoking, stop drinking, control my eating, and stop stumbling in my bed and feeling guilty about myself. So I started the Couch to 5k, cut off about 80% of my sugar intake, and began to consider what I was eating, something I had never done before.

I had a big sugar addiction when I was younger because I simply couldn’t stop eating it. I never had the option to “Stop eating, you’ve had enough.” Strangely, having three wise meals per day for the past 60 years, which everyone has recommended, actually worked!

The only health issue she encounters is her youthful appearance, which is the only one that she lacks. I’m becoming more deaf. I got hearing aids about ten years ago, but I just couldn’t bear it. A year later, I decided to try them once more. I’m wearing them today, but they make me crazy because I have to keep going. Because I can hear the entire room’s clatter louder, I can’t hear anyone any clearer.

“It’s lovely to take them out, but I also realize that [without them] I miss out on a lot of things and mishear everything.” I try to read only one word, which is frustrating.

Fern’s slim look makes her perfect for also heading back to the small screen and more TV work in the coming years if she headed back to London. She returned to This Morning last year for a series of shorts about the British Isles. And then there is also her own ITV show Fern Britton: Inside the Vet’s.

However, she seems to want to spend the majority of her time in Cornwall writing novels in 2025. She referred to the movies on This Morning as “funny but I won’t be going back to do This Morning.” My motto is, “Never go back,” for any reason. Never look back and never go back.

I honestly don’t watch it. When you’ve spent time there, you realize that it’s going to change and that’s not what you want. She continues, “It has taken me a long time to accept that my main focus is now being a writer.” Yes, I am now an author, I swear!
