Evolve Or Embrace Business, BBN’s Tolani Baj Urges Veteran Artistes

Tolani Shobajo, alias Tolani Baj, former Big Brother Naija housemate, has urged veteran Nigerian artists to either adapt to the times or make a graceful transition into the music business.

The reality TV star-cum-DJ questioned why some well-known artists find it difficult to recognize when their musical relevance is declining in a post on her official TikTok page on Saturday.

Why are Nigerian musicians unsure of their next steps in the direction of business? she inquired.

“This has been on my mind for about a year.” Go into business if your sound no longer resonates with your fans, audience, or is out of date.

The 31-year-old emphasized that artists who have established a strong legacy should maintain their reputation rather than draw unfair comparisons to younger, more akin to them.

Why do you constantly allow disrespect when you are compared to the new generation artists? she stated.

The housemate from BBN’s “Lockdown” season five continued to cite veteran singers Baddo Olamide and Don Jazzy as role models for older artists.

She cited Olamide and Don Jazzy as excellent examples of what OG artists need to be.

Let’s talk about it, tolanibaj! Why aren’t the popular artists in Nigeria starting their own businesses? Why would they prefer to continue performing alongside the younger artists in the midst of disrespect? Tolani Baj’s original sound is #fyp #foryou #explore #tbaj #afrobeats #foryoupage #tolanibaj.

The actress cautioned against holding onto onto one’s sleeve by repeatedly releasing music, which could weaken an artist’s accomplishments.

Stop dropping endless amounts of music, especially if your catalogue has historically been A1, and stop letting it devalue your brand. There is no shame in retiring, he said.

She continued, “Like, there are many artistes in which I just want to whisper, Please come back. You must do this, exactly. Please do better. ” “

Tolani Baj concluded by suggesting alternative avenues for artists looking to maintain their relevance, saying, “I would prefer you not even drop music altogether and become a lifestyle influencer.” But there is still some thought.
