After an alleged falling-out during the international break, Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta claims to have no issues with former teammate Wilfried Zaha.
The 28-year-old made his France debut on October 10 with a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan in the world cup’s qualifying match before drawing 2-2 with Iceland three days later.
However, Mateta claimed that Zaha, a former Palace winger who is currently playing for Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer, was one of his former teammates who “were laughing” when he expressed his desire to represent his nation.
Mateta claimed that any misunderstandings had now been resolved.
The striker, who has made 35 Premier League goals in 80 appearances since Zaha left the Eagles for Galatasaray in 2023, said, “I spoke with him.”
“Everything is good,” he says. We had a private conversation, that is all.
Mateta, who has seven goals in a season for Palace so far this year, stated that he was not thinking about his future ahead of Thursday’s Conference League game against AEK Larnaca. He has a contract until the summer of 2027.
