Everton have “reached an agreement” to sign midfielder Carlos Alcaraz on a loan deal from Flamengo, according to the Brazilian club.

Alcaraz, 22, previously played in the Premier League for Southampton before joining Juventus on loan for the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Argentine made his debut for the Saints this season, starting off the bench for the Saints against Newcastle, before moving to Flamengo for a club-record £16 million.

Although Everton sources confirmed interest in signing Alcaraz, BBC Sport was informed that this is not yet a “done deal,” and he now appears to be making a quick return to England.

However, the Brazilian club announced on Friday that they had reached a loan agreement with Everton.

According to the club, the loan has a “mandatory purchase clause,” with the parties agreeing to meet a number of unspecified requirements.

Jose Boto, the director of Flamengo football, stated: “The decision to negotiate Alcaraz was made following a thorough analysis that took into account both the technical committee’s position and the club’s interests.”

Moyes ‘ jealous ‘ of other teams making signings

Speaking in Friday’s news conference before their Premier League game against Leicester, Everton manager David Moyes said he was “confident at the moment” of making signings before Monday’s transfer deadline

We are actively looking for players to bring in, according to Moyes, who also knows behind the scenes and for all of Evertonians. In the end, the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) continue to hinder us.

I’m very interested in watching a lot of teams, which might offer a lot of players for a lot of money.

“We’re not quite there right now, but we don’t want to put ourselves in a pre-existing position with points deductions.” I hope everyone who supports us understands that and joins us.
