According to manager David Moyes, Everton have made an offer for Bayern Munich’s teenage defender Adam Aznou, but the club still needs six more signings before the transfer window closes.

Everton badly suffered at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday due to Jarrod Branthwaite and James Tarkowski’s injury-related absences, conceding three goals in the second half against Bournemouth.

It only strengthened a statement made by Moyes on Friday at a New York event that he said he needed “nine or ten” new signings.

Moyes said he felt his assessment was appropriate after the Bournemouth defeat, which came after Blackburn Rovers’ loss to Championship side last week.

He said, “Well, we’ve signed three, so we’re still in the need of maybe five or six players,” “Well, we’ve signed three.” That’s what we need to try to accomplish.

Never have I experienced one of these situations. I’ve had to sign numerous players in one window in the past, but never that much.

The Toffees have signed French striker Thierno Barry for £27 million, made permanent midfielder Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move, and signed goalkeeper Mark Travers.

However, their contracts have since expired, resulting in the departure of five senior players, including Mali midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

This summer, Branthwaite is one of Moyes’ four signings of new contracts.

Behind the scenes, he said, “We’re working really hard to get things done.”

After leaving Barcelona, the city where he was born, Aznou, a Moroccan international, left and joined Bayern’s academy as a 16-year-old.

The left-back has made four appearances for Bayern while the Spanish side Real Valladolid went on loan for the second half of last season.

Moyes acknowledged that a deal had been made, but warned against believing the 19-year-old would make a significant impact on his team.

“We have made an offer,” Moyes said.
