After being appointed as Everton manager for the second time, David Moyes expressed his satisfaction at being back.
The 61-year-old Scot has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park following the sacking of Sean Dyche on Thursday.
With just three wins from 19 games this season, Everton are 16th in the Premier League, one point clear of the relegation zone.
I had a wonderful 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton, and I was happy when I was given the chance to re-join this great club, Moyes said.
Moyes managed Everton from 2002 until 2013 before spells in charge of Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham twice.
The first everton spell, from relegation to the Champions League, was unforgettable.
Before departing to lead United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement in the summer of 2013, Moyes spent 11 years at Everton.
Following a four-year spell at Preston, he joined Everton in March 2002, with the Toffees in danger of relegation.
After winning his first game, Moyes oversaw more than 500 games.
Everton reached the FA Cup final in 2009, placing them in the top eight of the Premier League nine times, including fourth in 2004-2005, which earned them Champions League qualifying.
Ups and downs since leaving Everton
Although Sir Alex chose Moyes to succeed him at Old Trafford, he was unable to play the 2013-14 campaign.
After ten months in charge, he was fired in April 2014, leaving United with a tabletop seventh and no way to qualify for the Champions League.
Before returning to English football with Sunderland, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2016-17, Moyes spent a year with Sociedad in La Liga.
Moyes helped West Ham avoid relegation in 2017-18 during a six-month spell in charge.
Farhad Moshiri appointed Carlo Ancelotti, despite the fact that he was close to signing a deal to take Marco Silva over at Everton in December 2019.
Following Manuel Pellegrini’s dismissal, Moyes took over for West Ham that month and remained in charge until the end of the 2023-2019 season.
He also won the Europa Conference League, their first major trophy in 43 years, and two top-seven finishes while he led them there.
