Celine Dion made an unexpected appearance at the grand final of the annual singing contest, which attracted the ire of Eurovision fans.
Fans of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest were over the moon when it was rumoured Celine Dion could be making a surprise appearance at the grand final. The 57-year-old singer, who won Eurovision in Dublin in 1988, has faced difficulties with her singing abilities since disclosing her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.
However, throughout the night, BBC host Graham Norton has been speaking on his desire for the star, who managed a rare performance at the Paris Olympics last summer, to appear on stage. Earlier this week, rumours swirled on whether the My Heart Will Go On singer would be at Eurovision when her private plane departed from Paris for Switzerland yesterday morning, marking 37 years since her victorious performance for the country with Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.
Graham clung on to the chance of a Celine comeo, telling BBC viewers that he still believed she would appear before the results were revealed.

Graham made fun of Celine Dion’s appearance earlier in the competition. Our Graham mentioned that the My Heart Will Go On singer is watching backstage during the flag parade (which feels like years ago), but he didn’t rule out the Eurovision legend from giving a performance.
As they took to social media to express their disappointment with Celine, Graham’s hopes were immediately apparent. Someone on X asked, “Someone please get me a compilation of Graham Norton pleading for Celine Dion on #Eurovision2025 because he is so obsessed.”
One user wrote, “New game take a shot every time Graham Norton mentions Celine Dion #Eurovision,” and another wrote, “I actually think Graham Norton is going to kick off if Celine Dion doesn’t show up #Eurovision.”

The team have been talking to Celine about performing at the ceremony for months, according to a source close to Eurovision who spoke to The Sun.
She initially appeared to be avoiding her, but now it appears she will. Without her, rehearsals have already begun, but everyone is hoping. It will be final decision.
While in Las Vegas, Celine sent a video message to Eurovision, which was aired during Tuesday’s semi-final, hinting that she might not make it to the event.
In the short video, Celine stated, “Dear Eurovision family and contestants, I’d love nothing more than to be with you right now in Basel.” Switzerland will forever be a special place in my heart. It was a nation that admired me and gave me the gift of being a part of something so extraordinary.
I’m so grateful for everyone who supported me and for winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland.
“To see Switzerland win and continue to host this incredible event 37 years later is so beautiful and heartfelt.” Thank you for your love, Switzerland. I hope you enjoy yourself as much as I do for this evening.
