Chris Eubank Jr. claims that he was unable to “function” for two days as a result of his disagreement with Conor Benn and the dehydration clause.
Following his points victory over Benn April, the British fighter immediately went to the hospital.
According to Eubank, he had “severe dehydration.”
On Steve Bunce’s 5 Live Boxing, Eubank stated, “Obviously, I had a cut that needed to be stitched up.”
“But the main point was the extreme dehydration,” she continued.
My face and body were both swollen because of it. And it prevented me from working for a day or two.
They forced me to go through a drip for 24 hours while my body was being continuously drained of fluids. The headache was unbearable.
Eubank’s fight with Benn included a rehydration clause that set a weight cap for the day of the fight.
After missing the weight by 0.05 lbs. at the weigh-in, Eubank made the 12st 1 lbs. weight limit on fight day.
The 36-year-old claims that his fighting style changed as a result of the weight restrictions.
After the weigh-in, Eubank said, “I had been restricted in what I could eat and drink. That took its toll.”
During the fight, I experienced the effects. Which led me to think that my legs weren’t as strong as they should be.
I was forced to drag this kid into a dogfight, where I just keep punching until the referee stops me.
He continued, “We went to war for 12 rounds,” in the first round.
Eubank Sr. will be present for rematch
Eubank Jr., who had publicly spoken out against the fight, acknowledged the pain of being separated from his father.
Benn and Eubank Jr. were engaged in a significant fight in the 1990s, and their famous rivalry was 30 years old.
Eubank Jr. confirmed that the British boxing great would be present for the rematch in November, stating that he had not heard about it until the night before the match.
According to Eubank, “I’m getting ready to go to bed and then the phone call comes in saying, “Alright son, I’m coming to the hotel.”
“Wow. What’s happening here, exactly? You can’t make it up; you can’t write it.
If I said that his presence there didn’t give me that little bit extra percentage to complete the tasks that required to be done, I would be lying.
“Family is everything,” Since I was a child, my father has been a hero and idol.
