With a 2-0 victory over West Ham, Brazilian superstar Estevao’s first goal for Chelsea on Saturday, gave Arsenal the lead over Liverpool in the Premier League.

After winning their first seven games of the season in all competitions, Liverpool have had a terrible week, giving Arne Slot plenty to reflect on during the international break.

Chelsea, who have suffered three league games without winning, were well deserving of a dramatic 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.

On 14 minutes, one-time Liverpool target Moises Caicedo fired a blistering strike into the top corner into the bottom corner to give the Blues a 2-0 lead.

Caicedo’s record as the most expensive Premier League player ever was broken by Alexander Isak’s £125 million ($168 million) move to Liverpool last month.

Although the Swedish striker has yet to score a league goal, Cody Gakpo was gifted the equalizer just after the hour mark thanks to his skillful touch.

Chelsea, however, were not let down as Estevao headed in deep into stoppage time to meet Marc Cucurella’s cross, causing excruciating celebrations for manager Enzo Maresca, who was shown a red card for scurrying down the touchline.

Chelsea leads sixth place, while Liverpool currently leads Arsenal by one point.

Odegaard was dropped by Arsenal.

Arsenal’s 300th game under Mikel Arteta was far too strong for the struggling Hammers to further their quest for a first Premier League title in 22 years.

Martin Odegaard, Arsenal’s captain, was forced off injured before half-time for the third time this season, which cost him.

However, Arsenal’s injury issues have been minimized by the depth of the depth currently available to Arteta.

We won this game, according to Arteta, who praised the team. After some significant events over the past week and some injuries, “we were able to go top of the table.”

After Alphonse Areola parried Eberechi Eze’s drive, Declan Rice, who sold West Ham for £105 million in 2023, put a high shot into the net on the rebound to put an end to the visitors’ resistance.

On his 200th game at Arsenal, Bukayo Saka scored from the penalty spot after El Hadji Malick Diouf had brought down Jurrien Timber.

Amorim’s breathing space

With a 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, Manchester United relieved Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese, who had only 34 points in charge of his 33 previous Premier League games, was able to recover from a rare, convincing victory to give him some breathing room over the international break.

Today, Amorim praised the adult-focused nature of our team. It’s our responsibility to play this way, they say. “We need to do this.”

Old Trafford sat back before kick-off in remembrance of the victims of this week’s terror attack at a Manchester synagogue.

Senne Lammens kept a clean sheet on his debut, while Mason Mount justified his place ahead of Matheus Cunha with the opening goal, which Amorim made with his team selection.

With a superb finish from Bryan Mbeumo’s cross in eight minutes, Mount relieved the home fans’ tension.

With his first Old Trafford goal since joining from RB Leipzig for $74 million, Benjamin Sesko doubled the Red Devils’ lead with a vicious finish from a long throw-in.

At the end of the half, there was almost a turning point, with VAR intervening only to be denied a penalty for insufficient contact by Sesko on Trai Hume.

Under Thomas Frank, Tottenham put an end to Leeds’ year-long unbeaten league run at Elland Road with a 2-1 victory. The result was a testament to the club’s new defensive resolve.

After Noah Okafor’s cancelation of Mathys Tel’s opener for Spurs, Mohammed Kudus scored the visitors’ opening goal, giving them all three points.

After his team moved up to third place, Frank said, “That feeling to get over the line, to get three points was big.”
