After Jack Fincham was sentenced to a six-week prisoner for dangerous dog offenses, the police have spoken out.

The former Love Island star, 33, admitted guilt today at Southend Magistrates’ Court to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog with one of the incidents resulting in injury.

Officer Alex Watkins of Essex Police said: “Owners have to take responsibility for their dogs, and on these occasions this dog was dangerously out of control.”

The owner was given the opportunity to correct their behavior on both occasions by offering words of counsel and a conditional caution, which led to the sentence being handed down. I thank both victims for their courage during this investigation. “

After the first attack, Jack was given a chance to “correct his behavior,” according to Sergeant Alex Watkins, and failing to do so has put him in jail.

In the first incident, which occurred at Saleh Drive in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022, a man in his 40s reported an injury to his arm caused by the dog. The man, Robert Sudell, accepted an apology from Jack, who was then cautioned and prescribed a responsible dog ownership course.

Unfortunately, Jack’s Cane Corso dog struck again in June 2024 in Culford Road in Grays, when a woman in her 40s reported a dog grabbed her leg, leaving no injury.

Presiding magistrate Anne Wade, sentencing, said that Jack was subject to a suspended sentence order at the time of the first incident. The order, for an unrelated driving matter, was of 12 weeks custody suspended for 18 months.

Jack’s dog was required to be kept on a lead, muzzled in public spaces, and not left alone with anyone under the age of 16, but it appears he had broken the law. As she jailed Jack, Wade said:” we find no reason not to do so. The dog was kept on a lead and was not complying with the rules for being muzzled in public.

Alongside his jail spell, Jack was ordered to pay £3580 to the courts, including a £200 compensation fee to one of the victims, and a £50 compensation fee to a second victim. After prosecutors claimed he had “no savings,” a payment plan was put together for Jack to pay £400 monthly after his release.

After his sentencing, Jack gave his girlfriend Chloe Brockett a thumbs up as he was led away to cells, but she didn’t seem to notice. The Only Way is Essex star wept in the stands, where she was seated beside Jack’s brother and parents.

After the offender was spotted enjoying a lavish getaway at Champneys Spa in Hertfordshire in the days leading up to the hearing, the sentencing was a harsh rehashing of reality.

While this is Jack’s first time being handed a prison sentence, it’s not his first brush with the law. The former reality TV star has committed a number of other offenses, most recently requiring a drug-related license to drive until October 2029.
