England bowler Carse to miss IPL because of injury

Brydon Carse, an England fast bowler, has been forced to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) because of a toe injury that also ended his Champions Trophy campaign.
The 29-year-old was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad in November’s auction but has since been forced to resign from the T20 tournament, with South African international Wiaan Mulder taking his place.
Durham’s left foot suffered blisters and cuts to the touch of his left during England’s Champions Trophy game against Australia in February, and he was then declared out of the rest of the competition.
The South African-born seamer, who has played for England in all three different leagues this winter, has suffered a disappointing setback.
England will hope that Carse can recover in time for a busy summer of Test cricket, when they face Zimbabwe in May, before a five-match series against India debuts in June, after taking 27 wickets at 19.85 in his first five Tests.
Mulder has been given the task of filling Carse’s void at Sunrisers.
The 27-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder has played 11 T20s, 25 one-day internationals, and 18 Tests for South Africa overall. He was a member of the Proteas team that defeated New Zealand in the Champions Trophy semi-finals.
