England bowler Carse set to miss Afghanistan match

Brydon Carse, an England bowler, is a doubt for the remainder of the tournament because he will miss Wednesday’s Champions Trophy game against Afghanistan.
Carse, 29, has been struggling with a blister on a toe on his left foot and the issue reoccurred in Saturday’s defeat by Australia.
Carse returned scores of 1-69 from seven overs with the injury.
Jamie Overton would be the most like-for-like replacement for Carse against Afghanistan, who England will likely have to beat to progress.
There are no traveling reserves with the squad in Pakistan if Carse is declared out of the tournament.
Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed was with the squad in India. If the 20-year-old were brought in it would give England a second frontline spin option, in addition to Adil Rashid, for Saturday’s match against South Africa.
In Dubai, where spin has a significant role, England would most likely face India if they were to succeed in getting out of Group B.
Carse was chosen for the Champions Trophy despite missing England’s final two international matches due to a toe issue earlier this month.
Shortly before the tournament started, stitches were needed to repair the injury.
England’s Joe Root, who is a batter, told the BBC in Lahore, “We will have to wait and see.”
“There is still a good way to go before the game,” to discover what Carsey is doing. Over the coming days, we’ll see how things turn out.
After making his Test debut against Pakistan in October, Carse has impressed for England this winter.
Root would not think otherwise.
The Taliban’s assault on women’s rights in the country has sparked debate about whether England should boycott the game.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) needs more, but the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed earlier this month that the match will go ahead.
Root reaffirmed their assertion that boycotting wouldn’t “have a positive impact.”
Although there are things there that are difficult to hear and read up on, cricket is a joy for so many people, Root said.
