Oban Elliott, a Welsh fighter, declares his intention to resurrect himself after suffering his first defeat at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), defeat.
When the 27-year-old takes on Australian welterweight Jonathan Micallef (8-1) on Saturday, September in Perth, he hopes to start winning again.
Elliott’s perfect UFC debut was ended when South Korean wrestler Seokhyeon Ko defeated him in Azerbaijan in June.
“I’m back after [licking my wounds,” I said after my last fight, which didn’t go my way. He claimed that he is wiser and stronger.
“That significantly increases my risk, in my opinion, this time around.
In preparation for the fight, Elliott has been working out with Irishman Ian Machado Garry, who is currently ranked sixth in the UFC welterweight division.
The Merthyr Tydfil native said, “It’s like going to school together and then going to the same university.”
We were the same age when we joined Cage Warriors. We were once close friends, and we kept in touch throughout. Now, in 2018, we finally get to train together.
Micallef immediately made an impression when he defeated Kevin Jousset (10-4) in the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series.
Elliott, who has lost three of his four UFC fights, is aware of the dangers that these fighters present. He also graduated from the Contender Series.
Anyone who comes through that I know is a formidable threat, he continued, “I know how terrifying Contender Series is.
Despite the pressures of fighting abroad, Elliott is looking forward to facing Micallef.
