At Saturday’s UFC Fight Night in Baku, Azerbaijan, South Korea’s Ko Seok-hyeon defeated Welshman Oban Elliott by unanimous 30-27 decision.

Ko, who is making his UFC debut, put together a strong display that included several submissions throughout the three rounds, with the 31-year veteran keeping Elliott grounded for a long time.

Elliott, who was given the nickname “The Welsh Gangster,” has now lost his first fight since making his UFC debut in February 2024.

He and Ramiz Brahimaj were originally scheduled to fight on May 31 at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.

Due to visa concerns, the 27-year-old’s fight was postponed, but the UFC made a quick decision to keep him active by rescheduling him for the card for this weekend.

With victories over Preston Parsons and Val Woodburn as unanimous winners, the Welshman finished the match with a 3-0 UFC record and a knockout victory over Bassil Hafez at UFC 309 in November.

Elliott collaborated with some of the best fighters in the sport to travel throughout Europe to get ready for the fight.
