Carly Hillman, who left the soap a quarter of a century ago, is now living a completely different life and looks brand-new.

In the 1998 BBC soap, Carly, 41, reprised Nicky di Marco’s role. Nicky was Nicky’s best friend and the protective older sister of Sonia Jackson from the show’s long-running characters, Beppe and Gianni.

Nicky encountered some heartbreaking circumstances as a teenager despite her loving family and friends. After realizing her grades were too low, Rosa’s mother chose to work with her and employ Rod Morris as a tutor.

Tragically, the teacher sexually assaulted the schoolgirl after she attempted to kiss him and tried to seduce him. Big brother Gianni visited Rod and brutally assaulted him after she ran home to tell her family.

Nicky’s (and Carly’s) exit from Albert Square in 2000 after explaining the full story to her family, who was unsure of her decision to move into a youth hostel.

Years later, Carly prioritizes music over acting. She lists herself as a professional female singer who can provide live entertainment for events in Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, London, and Kent on her website, which reads “Carly Hillman is a professional female singer providing live entertainment for your wedding, party, bar, restaurant, or any other function.”

The website states that “Carly’s live singing performances can include ballads, R&amp, B, Soul, Disco, and pop music.” With her extensive knowledge of what’s needed to make any occasion memorable, Carly’s vast experience as a live performer has given her a great understanding of what’s needed.

Carly spent a number of years in the performing arts before switching to musical theater. She first appeared in the 2002 film Harry and Cosh, and later earned roles in shows like RJ Williamson Shakespeare Company, New Vic Workshops, and Ian Dickens Productions, as well as TV and theatre credits.

Along with Danny La Rue, Jim Davidson, Bradley Walsh, Joe Pasquale, Stephen Mulhern, and other stars, Carly also appeared in numerous pantomime appearances, including those in Cinderella, Aladdin, Aladdin, Dick Whittington, and Snow White.

In the early 2000s, Carly also pursued a musical career, releasing the song Mutual as part of the British R&amp, B group Urban Lady. The impressive era is described on Carly’s website as “she performed at major venues all over the UK, supporting various popular artists.”

The Essex-born actress also established her own Romford-based performing arts school, Act One Stage School. Carly and her husband Ben Probert welcomed two daughters into the world in 2009, taking a break from her professional life to concentrate on their family.
