Doak joins Bournemouth in £25m deal as Liverpool sales near £200m

Ben Doak, a Liverpool winger, has been signed for an initial sum of £20 million and additional sums of £5 million.

The 19-year-old is Bournemouth’s fourth summer signing under the terms of his five-year contract.

Doak was absent from Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday night.

Doak said, “I’m buzzing to be here.”

“I think this is the right time for me,” he said, “and it’s a great opportunity to play regular football at the highest level.” It fits perfectly, in my opinion.

The team plays excellent football. I felt like I couldn’t refuse the chance to play here because it’s fast and it really suits my game.

Doak has six caps for Scotland and seven assists in 24 games for Middlesbrough while playing on loan last season at Middlesbrough.

According to reports, Bournemouth have beaten interest from Porto and other Premier League clubs, including Leeds.

Since playing for Liverpool only 10 times since joining from Celtic in 2022, Doak’s move will increase his chances of playing first-team football.

After spending more than ‘£ 270 million on new signings and having Newcastle reject a £110 million bid for Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s sales increase to about £200 million this summer.

Luis Diaz joined Bayern Munich in a £65.50 million deal, Darwin Nunez joined Al-Hilal for £46.33 million, and academy player Jarrell Quansah joined Bayer Leverkusen for a $35 million deal.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, and Nat Phillips have also been sold, and Real Madrid has agreed to pay £8 million for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s early release from his contract, despite the Spanish club disputing this figure.

With the sale of Doak, Liverpool have paid Phillips, Alexander-Arnold, Kelleher, Quansah, and Morton initial fees of about £85 million. The Reds received six players as development projects or as youth players, for an initial sum of $600,000. The Reds receive a boost in terms of the current profit and sustainability rule (PSR) calculations because of the subsequent profit for players who are “homegrown.”

Dango Ouattara was sold to Brentford last week for £42.5 million, which was a busy summer for Bournemouth.

Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, and Milos Kerkez have already been sold to Paris St-Germain, Real Madrid, and Liverpool for a total of roughly £150 million, respectively.

Andoni Iraola, manager of Bournemouth, stated that his side are “not where they want to be” following the defeat at Anfield and that significant adjustments “will be made before the transfer window closes on September 1st.”

Eli Junior Kroupi, Eli Junior Kroupi, and left-back Adrien Truffert, who were also signed by the club in January, have all joined the club this summer.

Before a thigh injury ended his 2024-25 season at Middlesbrough in late January, Doak regularly terrorized opposition full-backs in the Championship.

The winger made his senior Scotland debut last September, making 21 starts for Boro with three goals and seven assists.
