Following a straight-set victory over Rinky Hijikata from Australia, Novak Djokovic is now through to the third round of the Miami Open.

In less than an hour and 20 minutes, the Serbian fourth seed fought through the first set 6-4 7-6 (7-1).

In the following round, Djokovic will face Argentina’s No. 69 Camilo Ugo Carabelli, who was denied a bye in round one.

However, the 37-year-old showed no signs of distraction during his first game in Miami since being swatted aside quickly.

In the second game of the match, the 24-time Grand Slam champion broke and won the first set in 28 minutes.

In the second, Djokovic won the match to move one step closer to a seventh Miami Open title, but the tie-break was more of a contest.

He said, “I was playing really well, I mean on a very high level right away, and I was aware of my tactical goals.”

Medvedev was exiled, but Ruud and Dimitrov continued.

Jaume Munar, a Spaniard, defeated Daniil Medvedev, who is seventh seed, 6-2, 6-3.

World No. 56 Munar brushed aside the 2023 champion, who made 31 unforced errors.

Casper Ruud also had a scare, but Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia defeated him 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
