The Continental Cup was won by Cardiff Devils after they defeated Bruleurs de Loups 6-1 to claim their first European title.

After Nottingham Panthers won the 2017 World Cup, Devils became the second British team to triumph in a European competition.

A sell-out Vindico Arena erupted when Tyler Busch gave Devils a sixth minute lead against the run of play.

Bruleurs de Loups, a Grenoble-based team, scored the opening goal ten minutes later with Aurelien Dair.

When Kohen Olischefski and Slovenian national keeper Matija Pintaric met on a one-on-one basis in the 23rd minute, the Devils won the match.

The Devils then quickly added two goals to the second period to end it. With a 5-1 lead going into the final period, Josh MacDonald and Cole Sandford both scored from the spot.

In the closing seconds of celebrations, Perlini scored his hat-trick into an empty goal.

The ownership team that owns the Devils, Steve King, Brian Parker, Kelly Hughes, and Craig Shostak, have now purchased the club for the ninth time in ten seasons.

Fans of the Devils have had some memorable nights since that summer 2014, including victories in the Challenge Cup, the Playoffs, and the Elite League title.
