The 58-year-old presenter thanked her fans for their support as she chronicled her back-to-back health struggles and said the past year had been an ‘incredible journey’

Marking a full year since she launched her Begin Again with Davina McCall YouTube show, the former Big Brother presenter emotionally thanked her followers, saying that the podcast had “saved” her.

Reflecting on the “incredible journey” of the past 12 months, she said, “We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve grown together.”

Speaking about a turbulent year that saw her undergo surgery for breast cancer—almost exactly a year after a procedure to remove a cyst in her brain—Davina, 58, said speaking to her guests for the podcast had helped maintain her mental health.

“I’ve been on quite a massive personal journey,” she said, “and coming here every week has at times kept me sane. And it’s meant a lot. This podcast has saved me … I’ve begun again.”

Insights, and laughs, from guests such as Jamie Oliver, Penny Lancaster and Katie Piper have helped Davina reinvent herself after such a challenging period.

After the terrifying diagnosis of a rare type of brain tumour that can potentially “cause sudden death,” Davina admitted she had been furious. “I was like, ‘How dare you control my daily life like this and make me feel every day like I’m in danger?’” she told businessman and fellow podcaster Steven Bartlett when he appeared on her show.

“I felt like this thing had taken control of me and I was so angry about that,” she added.

She said she had been forced to confront the possibility of death: “I did go and address my will and make sure that was airtight. I talked to [her partner] Michael about my wishes. I wrote letters of wishes to all the children and put those in my will.”

After the risky surgery in November 2024 proved successful, Davina felt as if she had a new lease on life—only to suffer a second blow this year when she found a lump in her breast.

She explained: “It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early, which is incredibly lucky. But I am so relieved to have had it removed and to know that it hasn’t spread.”

Following her lumpectomy at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, Davina thanked medical staff and urged women to get their breasts checked.

She told her 2.1 million followers on Instagram: “I’m talking about this because I think it might help someone. And this is what I always do.”

Signing off on this week’s message, a tearful Davina told viewers: “I love you all, my gang … and I love our guests. You make me cry,” she added.
