Danny Dyer has explained how he got a new film role that was meant for Gary Oldman. He is back on TV screens this month with Sky’s hilarious comedy Mr. Bigstuff.
Danny Dyer has given his top advice for finding work: being less expensive than the other actors who are competing for his roles. The 48-year-old star has had a distinguished career since the early 1990s.
The actor’s big break came when an agent secured him a role in the beloved ITV series Prime Suspect, which featured Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren. He has appeared on other top-notch TV programs like EastEnders and Hotel Babylon.
Danny plays a football agent named Jimmy Banks in the Irish film Three Quick Breaths, which he is currently starring in in an effort to close a deal for a significant client. Although Gary Oldman was initially wanted to play the lead role, the film’s creators, Peter Howlett and Brendan Muldowney, are responsible for producing the project.
Now Danny has joked that he was hired instead because his fee is more budget friendly. Giving an eyebrow raising insight into the world of Hollywood, Danny hinted that the Oscar winner wanted a huge amount of money before he even started working.
He claimed to the Radio Times, “I believe they first addressed Gary Oldman.” He claimed he only wanted $2 million to read it. However, I placed next, which I’m pleased with.
Then he quipped, “I’m next, Gary Oldman, because I’m obviously less expensive.” I’m happy to be Gary Oldman’s less expensive version.
Danny continued to claim that working on the project almost “forced him crazy” because the filming process took place in Ireland earlier this year.
The London actor grew his fanbase when he appeared in EastEnders as Mick Carter from 2013 until 2022. The character was written off in tense Christmas scenes as he disappeared into the Channel following a dramatic car accident.
Laila Morse, who has played Mo’Big Mo’ Harris since 2000, is also a part of the popular soap. Gary Oldman, 67, is Gary Oldman’s older sister, the 79-year-old actress.
Laila has previously mentioned that her brother, who made her debut as a director in 1997’s Nil By Mouth, made an open admission to the fact that she was a child when he cast her in his film debut.
Danny plays a character in the Sky Comedy series Mr. Bigstuff in season two, where he is currently playing the role of the abandoned father. In a hilarious scene, the TV star strips naked and runs down a street in the first episode of the new season.
When Danny and The Sun spoke about the nude scene, Danny said, “Ever run through a council estate naked?” Literally speaking, it’s a whole new ball game. You may well be aware that I was focusing more on the weather than anything else that the weather was not too cold!
It was “in broad daylight.” I had a little sock over my Hampton, so I didn’t go completely [nude].
