Injuries for players are typically reported through the official club website or manager’s press conference.
However, fans are concerned about injuries following Matheus Cunha’s planned appearance to light the Christmas lights in Altrincham.
Just two days before United’s Premier League match against Everton on Monday, the Brazil international was scheduled to attend the event on Saturday evening along with Sam Aston, who plays Chesney on Coronation Street.
However, organizers Visit Altrincham announced in a Facebook post just hours before the festive extravaganza that Cunha would not be attending for “medical reasons” because the player “had an accident in training.”
Cunha’s availability for the Everton game has not been determined by United.
United has been contacted by BBC Sport for comment. It is understood that the club did not arrange the appearance.
Cunha, who signed for £62.5 million from Wolves in the summer and has led United’s resurgence this year, has had their last five games unbeaten.
He played in both of Brazil’s recent international games and scored his first goal for the club in a 4-2 victory over Brighton in October.
Head coach Amorim announced on Friday that striker Benjamin Sesko would be sidelined until the middle of the month due to a knee condition.
Amorim would undergo a significant reshuffle if Cunha was unable to play on Monday’s game.
Mason Mount would be in contention, but Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee could also be selected for Amorim’s starting lineup for the first time this year in the Premier League.
