Manuel Akanji, a defender for Manchester City, is a subject of an approach from Crystal Palace.

Palace has inquired about the availability of the Swiss international, according to sources who spoke to BBC Sport.

Akanji, who hasn’t played in either of their Premier League games this season, is expected to cost City around £15 million.

Galatasaray, a champion of Turkey, are also interested in the 30-year-old.

Akanji joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, where he spearheaded the Champions League triumph over Inter Milan.

Pep Guardiola, City boss, suggested earlier this month that the city’s focus should be on spending money after spending more than £150 million on six players so far this summer.

The Spaniard claimed that having so many players in his squad was “not healthy” and that “people will talk with players and agents to find a solution”.

Tottenham are in talks to sign winger Savinho, while goalkeeper Ederson has been closely linked with a move to Galatasaray.

Could City have a busy few days ahead?

James Trafford, who joined City in the summer, started both of his league games while City have four senior goalkeepers on their books.

With Ederson watching from the bench as the England Under-21 keeper watched on from the substitutes’ bench, the England Under-21 keeper struggled in the 2-0 defeat by Tottenham on Saturday.

Similar to Akanji, the Brazil international has long been linked to Galatasaray, but no deal has yet been reached between the two clubs.

If City were to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris St-Germain, Ederson would need to leave, but club sources claim that no personal agreements have been made with the Italian international.

Stefan Ortega is expected to be leaving by Monday’s deadline, but the German is not yet close to leaving.

Due to tactical reasons, City are likely to look into any offers for the 34-year-old midfielder and he was left out of the Spurs game.

Guardiola claims that Brazil’s Savinho, who is currently a Tottenham target, is out injured.

Although it is unknown whether Savinho and City officials discussed him on Saturday, there were earlier discussions in the window.
