Ireland 154-8 (20 overs): Delany 48* (29), Rashid 3-29

England 155-4 (17.1 overs): Cox 55 (35), Banton 37* (26)

England won the series by six wickets and won it by two wickets.

With a half-century from Jordan Cox, England won the series by six wickets in the third T20 match against Ireland.

The win gave the visitors a 2-0 victory in the first T20 series between the sides after Phil Salt led England to victory in the first match on Wednesday and the match was washed out without a ball bowled.

After an impressive innings of restraint from England’s bowling attack, Ireland gave the visitors a target of 155.

With three wickets for 29 runs, Adil Rashid took the lead, but Jamie Overton and Liam Dawson both managed well when taking a pair.

Sonny Baker, who was making his T20 debut this month after a costly one-day international berth against South Africa this month, was the only exception, allowing 52 runs without taking a wicket.

Before Salt’s swift dissolution of any doubts over Wednesday’s result, Ireland would have thought their series opener 196 sounded like a competitive total.

Sunday’s innings, however, was much more labored after England’s stand-in skipper Jacob Bethell once more won the toss and put the hosts into bat.

Conditions were always going to make things more difficult with the bat, with the overnight heavy rain guaranteeing a slower wicket.

However, England’s bowling variation and discipline also contributed, with their spinners taking six of the eight wickets.

Ireland’s top order struggled to score at a rate that was better than a run per ball while opener Ross Adair made 33 of his 23 deliveries before falling to Rehan Ahmad to bowl in the first over following the powerplay.

On Wednesday, Loran Tucker and Harry Tector put together a 123-run partnership to resolve the conflict, but Ireland never found their groove in this series finale.

Only with Baker’s first two overs, which resulted in 24 runs, could they increase their run-rate.

Cox makes her international debut with fifty.

Cox was only added after his leading run-scorer role in The Hundred and recognition as Most Valuable Player for the Oval Invincibles in the original series.

His return to the starting lineup on Wednesday marked his first international appearance since November and his first Twenty20 appearance for England in more than a year.

In the intervening months, he lost his Test debut to Zimbabwe in May and then to New Zealand last winter.

There was a time on Sunday afternoon when it appeared as though luck was on his side after he appeared to have injured his knee while making the catch for Ross Adair.

He arrived in the crease when England had not received the start they should have desired in their reply, and he ultimately became fit to bat.

After the powerplay, they were 57-2 after the rain had stopped the chase between innings. Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell, who both took two balls ducks, did brilliant catches from Curtis Campher and Delany.

“Energizing times for England” reaction

Adil Rashid, an England spinner, stated on TNT Sports, “We bowled exceptionally well as a unit. There was a little bit of purchase for the spinners.” We had to change the pace, but we succeeded as a group.

The T20 World Cup coming next year is something we are all looking forward to. Sri Lanka and New Zealand are both experiencing difficult times ahead, but England as a whole is experiencing exciting times.

Paul Stirling, Ireland’s captain, said, “We learned a lot from the week.”

“I don’t believe you know what a winning score is when you play against England,” the player said. No matter who we were playing, we were probably 15 short. proud of the young players’ performance today.

Jacob Bethell, England’s captain, said, “I couldn’t have imagined it any better.” Although the game was unlucky, it was wonderful to win with a score of 2-0 in my first series as captain.
