Former Corrie star Emrhys Cooper has revealed that a subtle change to his appearance left him overcome with emotion and gave him a completely fresh outlook on life
Emrhys Cooper admits his whole outlook on life changed after a huge transformation. The former Coronation Street actor had spent years being bothered by his appearance after a dentist whacked temporary bonding onto his veneers after an accident involving a bottle and a drunken friend.
Despite having been happy with his appearance, he noted that the colour of the bonding started to wear away and the chips became more visible than ever, something that affected him at work when he was filming. However, the actor, 40, says he “never felt deserving” or “financially secure” enough to fix the thing which was getting him down.
But after years of lapping up the life of showbiz in Los Angeles, where he had been living, Emrhys embarked on a new sober lifestyle and instantly made a decision to fix his appearance, which he says changed his overall outlook. Reflecting on looking to replace his veneers, he told the Mirror: “I’d gotten some wild quotes in LA, so after doing a lot of research, I looked into Turkey where I’d heard good where I’d heard good things.
After multiple consultations, I chose Dentakay, and I’m so glad I did. The experience was seamless and truly incredible. I felt like Adele getting superstar treatment.” Emrhys, however, was adamant that he didn’t want the stereotypical Turkey look; instead, he wanted a more natural look, something which his dentist was in agreement about.
“When I got my new teeth, I genuinely felt like I was gonna cry. For a long time, I didn’t believe I deserved to fix my teeth,” he admitted. Emrhys added: “Now it’s given me a huge boost of confidence and a deeper sense of self-worth. I’ve been fortunate enough to stay busy as an actor since getting my new smile, and I’ve absolutely noticed a difference in how I’m showing up, no longer self-conscious and trying to hide my teeth on camera.”
He continued: “For years I prioritised everything except my health, going out, partying, trips, you name it. Now seeing what Dentakay has done for me, it’s opened a new door of possibilities. It might sound cheesy, but a smile can really change your life. I don’t mean that in a vain look at me way, but in a genuinely empowering way.
“When you take care of yourself, you show up differently in the world. I’ve had multiple implants and root canals. And now we understand more than ever that the real dangers of neglecting your dental health are linked to issues like heart disease, inflammation, and even increased risk of cognitive conditions such as dementia.”
But Emrhys revealed he was quoted “between forty and one hundred grand” for the treatment in Los Angeles, whereas he paid around £5,820 for the treatment at Dentakay. And while there has been increased coverage of Travel Tourism and the downsides of this, Emrhys had nothing but praise for his team. “I did a lot of research, and I spoke to four different dentists,” he explained.
He admits he felt “listened to” when he expressed his desired look, which is something he could have never expected. Speaking about ensuring people do research, he said: “I think it’s important to do your research and find the right place for you. I’m just speaking from my personal experience. They were incredible from start to finish.”
After seeing the end results, he admits he “teared up”. “It was something that had bothered me for so long, and to see my smile how I wanted it to look finally was just a huge sense of relief,” he commented. And this has followed through to his exciting work projects.
Now, his thoughts are far from his appearance. He said: “It was just nice to not be in my head about the way I looked, because that can really take you out of the present moment and and and spoil some of the fun and and rob your joy. So I noticed I had freedom because I wasn’t so wrapped up in my physical appearance, which I shouldn’t be anyway.
“But you know, the fact that my veneers were discoloured and I had chips, multiple chips on my veneers, it was something I thought about. And when the camera was in close, I would be paranoid. And it was just liberating to feel free of those concerns.”
