Constitution Hill survives scare to win at Cheltenham

Constitution Hill, a champion racing star, won at Cheltenham despite making a mistake at the final flight and increased his unbeaten run to 10 victories in 10 races.

The 1-12 favourite, ridden by Nico de Boinville for trainer Nicky Henderson, took the Unibet Hurdle on Festival Trials Day by three lengths from Brentford Hope.

“My heart was in my mouth at the last but he was just doing it so easily”, said De Boinville.

In March, Constitution Hill will win the Champion Hurdle crown back at Cheltenham, but he is still the odds-on favorite.

He has a nice spin today, Henderson said, and it has saved us a lot of time doing it at home.

We are aware of his location. He’ll now pass a quiet week, and after that, we’ll start the engines over.

We’ll go there with a lot of hope if we can win the Champion Hurdle in the manner we are currently in. To play with, we have four to five weeks.

Meanwhile, L’Homme Presse narrowly beat Stage Star in a close finish in the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham.

Before jockey Charlie Deutsch guided the 4-to-5 favorite to victory against Stage Star, who was ridden by Harry Cobden, there was little movement between the pair after the final fence.

In the final race held on the course before the Cheltenham Festival, Gentlemansgame placed third out of six runners.

” It means everything. Every time I get on him I get excited, “Deutsch told ITV Racing.

” His jumping was so smooth. It turned into a bit of a race to the line, I didn’t think we went that quick. He’s a nice and easy worker because he’s so laid-back and composed.
