Clark breaks record again – with a rookie card

Caitlin Clark’s rookie 2024 WNBA card, which the Indiana Fever actress signed herself, sold for $660, 000 (£491, 116), more than twice the previous women’s record.

At the auction hosted by memorabilia and trading card company Fanatics Collect, extended bidding jumped to $336, 000 before rising to its final sale price.

Clark’s signature, which is inked in blue, and a photo of her mid-dribble, shin bloodied, are included on the one-of-one Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Platinum Logowoman card.

Clark’s, which sold for $ 366, 000 in March, also set the record for highest-selling women’s sports cards.

Her photo, signature, and a patch from Clark’s Fever uniform that was worn while she was playing are included on the card that sold on Thursday night.

The record she broke last year for points scored as a rookie is also referenced by Clark’s writing, “769 pts and counting.”

Clark currently has 14 cards with her on them, all of which have sold at public auctions for far more than her season-end salary, which is thought to be around $80, 000.

Since her team said there is no date for her return as the season progresses, she has been off the court since she was injured in the groin on July 15.

The 23-year-old won back-to-back NCAA championships with the Iowa Hawkeyes last year, setting the all-time Division I scoring record for both men and women, and was already a major celebrity when she first started competing in the women’s professional league.

In 2024, Clark was selected with the Fever as the first overall pick, and he later won the rookie of the year.
