Chris McCausland, a gay comedian, revealed that his wife Patricia “doesn’t ask” him any questions about the difficulties of marriage.

Chris McCausland opened up about the difficulties of navigating marriage as a blind man and revealed that his wife “doesn’t ask” him a number of questions.

The comic, known for his observational wit on Live at the Apollo, Would I Lie to You?, and Strictly Come Dancing, discussed his marriage to Patricia Azure in his recently released memoir, Keep Laughing.

The 48-year-old met Patricia at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2005 after losing his sight in his early 20s as a result of a genetic condition. After the couple tied the knot in 2012, they eventually settled into a life together despite his declining vision.

Although their relationship has endured, Chris acknowledges that Patricia has had to give up some aspects of her typical married life because he is unable to fully share them.

According to him, Patricia’s marriage to a blind person indicates that, in some ways, she has had to give in to my blindness, as well as other aspects of her life.

The comedian claimed that Patricia, who was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, has never been able to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes of her home. He doesn’t understand what she says visually, but she does, too, by describing the “beautiful clear blue skies” and the “vibrant colors and intricate mosaic pavements.”

He jokes that “it is just hot, really hot, really hot, and I had sunstroke at the Reading Festival, so you can imagine how I’m going to deal with that.”

Chris claims the couple can’t walk around an art gallery talking about paintings and Patricia can’t take him to the ballet because of sacrifices that go beyond the holidays. Unfortunately, his blindness has altered even more intimate relationships.

He wrote, “She can’t even ask me the question, “Do my hair look okay?” that wives frequently ask husbands when getting ready to leave the evening. Does this pair of shoes match this top? Does this make my bum look big?

The Strictly winner, however, acknowledged that he would never be able to provide her with the answer she needed. What do I tell that? Sweetheart, I don’t know. Things do tend to feel bigger than they appear.

She used to ask me what I thought she looked like, but she doesn’t ask me anymore because I never really had a satisfactory response for her.

Although Chris can mentally represent her face, he labels it as a hazy image. He continued, “I do know what she looks like, kind of, but it’s not something I can sit and describe in detail in my mind, even if I had the vocabulary to do so, which I don’t.”
