Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Barcelona’s England midfielder Keira Walsh on the Women’s Super League’s transfer deadline day.

Sources at Barcelona said the total deal was worth up to £800, 000, including add-ons. Although sources from Chelsea did not confirm the figures, they claimed the basic fee was less than £800,000.

Although Barcelona had expressed no desire to sell, it is believed Chelsea’s offer was accepted late on Wednesday, and Walsh was scheduled to get checked in on Thursday in London.

The 27-year-old, who left Manchester City to join Barcelona for a then world record fee of £400, 000 in 2022, was keen to return to England to be close to family.

The fee is thought to be lower than the $ 900,000 Chelsea paid earlier this month for USA defender Naomi Girma.

Walsh has been a key player at Chelsea’s disposal since the summer, and the club has been looking to expand its midfield options ever since.

Walsh informed Barcelona in September that she would not like to see her contract expire in six months.

Although Walsh’s interest has always remained, it seems like they are drawn to Chelsea.

Walsh, who has become the second-priced female football player in the world, has made a significant investment.

“A fantastic month for Chelsea,” says one critic.

Chelsea has had a very positive month thanks to their numerous records in acquiring some of the best players in the world.

They brought in Girma, widely regarded as the best centre-back in the world, and now Walsh for the two biggest transfer fees in the women’s game.

Chelsea has supported manager Sonia Bompastor in order to win the Women’s Champions League, which they have unmistakably stated.

Walsh is eligible to play for Chelsea from the beginning of the quarter-finals despite playing for Barcelona in the group stages.

With a seven-point lead at the top of the table, they are still undefeated in the WSL and are currently chasing a quadruple in the women’s cup’s semifinals.

By acquiring Walsh, they have provided cover for injured midfielder Sophie Ingle, who has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury this season, and a key player from Barcelona’s rivals in Europe.
