Celebs Go Dating stars have opened up on the ‘real reason’ that model and podcaster Christine McGuinness abruptly left the show just after the process started.
Christine, 37, announced that she had quit the E4 dating program, just a few weeks after she joined the agency as she told her followers that she had “great intentions” but feels the experience is “too soon” for her. Christine and comedian Paddy McGuinness, 51, announced their split in 2022 after they had been together for 15 years.
Celebs Go Dating hosts and love gurus Anna Williamson, Paul C. Brunson and Dr Tara spoke out on Christine’s exit and said it just ‘wasn’t the right time’ for Christine and that she was ‘brave’ to recognise that.

Anna revealed to The Sun: “It wasn’t the right time for Christine to continue her journey in the agency. I think this is the absolute beauty of what the Celebrity Dating agency does – yes it’s a TV show, but it’s also real.
We are not scripted, as Paul and Dr. Tara put it in, Anna said, and both on and off the agency construct.
“And for Christine it was very brave that she wanted to dip her toe back into the world of dating and throughout the process of us getting to know her, she realised that perhaps this actually wasn’t quite the right time for her to be doing that and took a great deal of confidence and bravery inside to recognise and actually now is not the right time.”
Anna did admit that while Christine wasn’t on the show for very long, she did go on dates, and viewers will see a different side to the glamorous mother-of-three. Anna did give a glimpse of what to expect.
Christine opened up after she left the show and wrote on Instagram at the time: “I joined Celebs Go Dating with great intentions but have realised that dating on a public platform and the attention that brings is just too soon for me.
I’m so grateful that they’ve said the door is always open for me, but for the time being, I’m going home to my family.
Celebs Go Dating’s spokesperson added in a statement that Christine’s creators “loved” working with her and “respect her feelings.”
They continued, “We have loved having Christine on the show, fully respect her feelings, and we have assured her that the agency’s door will always be open for her in the future.”
