Man Utd Sign Dorgu From Lecce

Lecce-based Danish defender Patrick Dorgu was signed by Manchester United on Sunday for an initial fee of £25 million ($37 million).

The 20-year-old has impressed in Serie A over the past two seasons, scoring five goals in 53 appearances in the Italian top flight, and has four caps for his country.

Dorgu should help United’s coach, who is the first player to sign with Ruben Amorim, who has limited options on the left.

This is a very special day for my entire family, Dorgu said in a club statement. “I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player.”

Ruben Amorim’s vision for this team and the club’s future is incredibly exciting, and I can’t wait to work with him.

I believe Manchester United is the best place for me to fulfill my potential and fulfill my enormous ambitions because of the clear plan that I have for my development.

Due to the requirement to adhere to profit and sustainability regulations, United’s ability to support Amorim has been hampered.

But the club’s technical director Jason Wilcox is confident Dorgu is perfectly suited for Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.

” Patrick is a really exciting talent, his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad, “said Wilcox.

We are aware that he will continue to develop under the guidance of our excellent coaching staff at the age of 20.

United are optimistic about raising money in the transfer window’s final hours, which will end on Monday.

Marcus Rashford reportedly has a loan deal with Aston Villa in order to free up the majority of his reportedly £300,000-a-week wages.

Although Napoli has also been linked to Alejandro Garnacho, he is unlikely to leave on Monday.

Israel Adesanya Suffers Second-Round Knockout Defeat Against Imavov

Following a second-round knockout in Saturday’s main event of the UFC Fi 250 in Saudi Arabia, former two-time UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya suffered a shocking defeat to Nassourdine Imavov.

The 30-year-old Imavov nicknamed “The Sniper”, landed a lightning-fast precision right hand early in the second round, signalling the beginning of the end for Adesanya.

Adesanya, who had lost three of his previous four championship fights, was hoping to win another title fight. He had been fighting in a non-title bout for the first time since February.

The Nigerian-born New Zealander won the belt for the first time in November 2022, fell to American Sean Strickland, and then lost to South African Du Plessis in a submission defeat in August 2024.

He started strong, utilising heavy body kicks and feints to control the early exchanges.

Atletico Beat Mallorca To Stay On Real Madrid’s tail

Real Madrid’s pressure on them before their trip to face Espanyol was put on by Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Mallorca on Saturday.

Samuel Lino slid home in the 26th minute after a strong driving run by Giuliano Simeone, son of Atletico’s coach Diego Simeone.

The Metropolitano stadium was delighted when Antoine Griezmann, who had started the game on the bench, lobbed a superb finish to score the second goal in stoppage time.

Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth impressed in the opening period, but Lino and the Rojilblancos won the match.

Mallorca, seventh, forged some chances of their own after the break in a tighter second period. Dani Rodriguez fired over after Jan Oblak, the Atletico goalkeeper, tipped Sergi Darder’s free kick over the bar.

Late in the second half, Rodrigo Riquelme attempted to stop the game, but Griezmann came away with a lovely chip. He hit the crossbar with a free-kick.

Atalanta Held By Torino As Serie A Title Bid Slips Away

After their star striker failed to convert from the penalty spot, Atalanta’s faltering Serie A title bid suffered yet another blow against Torino on Saturday, drawing 1-1.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, the goalkeeper for Torino, who has saved all three of his penalty saves this season, pushed aside Retegui’s weak effort from the spot in the 74th minute.

Third-placed Atalanta is now six points clear of Napoli, who travel to Roma on Sunday night just before Inter Milan take on AC Milan’s regional rivals.

With a game in hand at Fiorentina in December, Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove’s on-pitch collapse, reigning champions Inter are three points clear of Napoli.

On Thursday night, Inter will finish that assignment.

Atalanta are off the pace in the Scudetto race after losing seven of their previous six league games, just as Napoli and Inter have excelled.

Ten minutes before half-time, Guillermo Maripan levelled from the spot, but the hosts were on their way to victory.

Atalanta struggled to stop Dogged Torino, but Milinkovic-Savic, the giant, kept the opposition at bay, and even stung the irate home fans after avoiding Retegui’s penalty.

After drawing their fifth game without losing, Torino are comfortably positioned 11th.

In-Form Dembele Hits Hat-Trick Again As PSG Thump Brest

As Paris Saint-Germain defeated Brest 5-2 on Saturday as a rehearsal for their upcoming Champions League clash, Ousmane Dembele scored a hat-trick for the second time in four days.

Dembele followed up his three-goal haul in Wednesday’s 4-1 win at VfB Stuttgart which saw PSG secure a place in the knockout phase play-offs of Europe’s elite club competition.

After Romain Del Castillo had just a few minutes to bring Brest level, the French winger opened the scoring in the first half and added two more goals.

Goncalo Ramos, a substitute, completed the win for PSG with a late double, but Ludovic Ajorque pulled another one back for the home side to set up a grandstand finale.

Luis Enrique’s side are still without a win in the French league this season, and they are now 13 points clear of the leader.

Marseille, who are second, can narrow that gap a little when they host Lyon on Sunday, but PSG are cruising to their 11th French league title in 13 years.

Dembele, meanwhile, is loving playing in a central attacking role rather than his traditional position wide on the right.

He leads Ligue 1 with 14 goals for the season and has now scored 14 in his last nine games in all competitions.

“I’m in a good position playing the number nine.” I owe it to myself to score goals”, Dembele told broadcaster beIN Sports.

“To keep our good run going, it was crucial to win today,” said the coach. “We’ll see what happens in the Champions League tomorrow.”

Brest dread&nbsp,

Brest will undoubtedly dread having to face Luis Enrique’s side again in the Champions League after PSG’s record against domestic rivals this season.

The first leg of the match will take place on February 11 in Guingamp, where Brest must host Champions League games this year because Stade Francis-Le Ble does not meet UEFA standards.

They were unable to stop PSG, who finished with 14 games without a win in all competitions, in their usual home stadium for this game.

Before the half-hour mark, Dembele squared for Bradley Barcola to start the scoring.

After the break, Brest, who lost 3-0 to Real Madrid in the midweek game, emerged victorious and equalized five minutes later with a lovely low strike from Del Castillo from the edge of the box.

Before the hour mark, however, the visitors had a lead as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was denied in the box but the ball broke for Dembele to score.

He then completed his hat-trick soon after, having been picked out by a superb Lee Kang-in pass.

Ajorque’s terrific hit made it 3-2, but Ramos came on for Dembele and made it 4-2 on 89 minutes at the end of a counterattack led by Desire Doue, who had replaced Kvaratskhelia.

The Portugal striker, Ramos, scored a second time deep in injury time as he attempted to set up a teammate but was denied a ball as he struggled to get the ball to him. This was his eighth goal of the season.

Brest are eighth, four points outside the European places for next season.

Monaco play Auxerre and Lille host Saint-Etienne in Saturday’s other matches.
