New Gunner Gyokeres Could Debut In Arsenal’s Game Vs Tottenham

Manager Mikel Arteta announced on Wednesday that Viktor Gyokeres might make his Arsenal debut in front of 50, 000 Hong Kong supporters this week.

The $67 million Swedish striker attended an open training session at Kai Tak Stadium, where Arsenal will face Tottenham on Thursday in their bitter rivals’ first game away from the UK.

Gyokeres, who signed from Sporting Lisbon for the club for a short time before being released, will have a chance to play on the field if the club’s medical staff determines that he is ready, according to Arteta.

However, he and his new teammates, who met in Singapore last week against AC Milan and Newcastle, are playing fitness catch-up.

Arteta told reporters, “Yes, I understand he’s only finished today’s session and yesterday, very little.”

It’s possible if the medical staff is pleased with his condition and that they will evaluate him tonight.

Everyone is fine with the rest of the squad, according to the statement.

The 27-year-old Gyokeres fired Sporting to the Portuguese title last year with 39 goals and made headlines when he scored a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City.

The Portuguese striker, who chose to wear the number 14 shirt that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry made famous, scored a remarkable 97 goals in 102 games for the club.

He has a five-year contract with Arsenal, which could cost the north London club $89 million with performance-related bonuses.

His arrival increased Arsenal’s close-season spending to about $ 277,000.

Additionally, they have signed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke, along with defender Cristhian Mosquera, midfielder Martin Zubimendi, and midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Arteta, who wants to become the first manager to win the Premier League since Arsene Wenger in the 2003/2004 season, was undoubtedly pleased with the way the club has handled the situation in the transfer window.

Arteta, who finished second in the Premier League for the third time in three seasons, said, “I am very happy with the way we have approached the window and how aggressive we have been.

Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside Gyokeres, a fellow Scandinavian, and called him a “very complete player.”

Norwegian international Odegaard said, “I think you’ve all seen what he’s done so far in his career, especially in his final season at Sporting, and the statistics speak for themselves.”

He is physically strong, quick, good at finishing, and intelligent, as you may well know.

He’s a very complete striker, Odegaard said.

“I’m really looking forward to having him join the team.” You can already tell how good he is, how much energy he has, and how willing he is to work.

Olympic Biathlon Champion Dies After Pakistan Mountaineering Accident

After being hit by falling rocks on a Pakistani mountain, German Olympia biathlon gold medalist Laura Dahlmeier was declared dead on Wednesday at the age of 31.

Her agency said in a statement released on Wednesday that confirmed her death that rescue efforts were “impossible due to the dangerous nature of the site.”

The statement continued, “The operation was suspended because rescue efforts to recover her failed.”

According to a statement from her team on her official social media pages, the accident occurred on Monday at around noon at a height of 5,700 metres (18,700 feet), in the Karakoram range, at around 700 meters.

After reaching safety, Dahlmeier’s climbing partner triggered the alarm.

A senior local official in the Ghanche district, where the more than 6, 000-meter mountain is located, informed AFP earlier on Wednesday that it was determined that a helicopter rescue was not feasible.

He continued, “She was injured in extremely challenging circumstances at this altitude.”

A team of four, including three Americans and a German mountaineer, confirmed the ground rescue by Shipton Trek &amp, Tours Pakistan, the expedition’s organizer.

No one was able to reach Dahlmeier because of the possibility of further rockfalls and the site’s “remoteness,” according to her team’s statement on Tuesday.

Local disaster management official Muhammad Ali told AFP that the region’s weather has been “extremely harsh” for the past week, with heavy rain, strong winds, and thick clouds.

The Great Trango Tower was already visible thanks to Dahlmeier, an experienced mountaineer who had visited the area since the end of June.

In a statement released on Wednesday, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier called Dahlmeier “a role model for peaceful, joyful, and fair coexistence across borders” and that he was “an ambassador for our country around the world (and) a role model for our country’s international cooperation.

She won seven gold medals at the world championships, and she became the first woman biathlete to win both the sprint and the pursuit at the same Games.

At the age of 25, Dahlmeier stopped competing professionally in 2019.

She then began a career as a biathlon broadcaster for ZDF and climbed mountains.

According to her team, she was a certified mountain guide and ski guide.

NBA To Play 2026 Regular Season Games In London, Berlin

The governing body announced on Wednesday that the NBA would play regular-season games in Berlin and London in the 2025-26 campaign.

On January 15, 2026, the Orlando Magic and the Memphis Grizzlies will square off in Berlin, and they will also do so in London three days later.

The decision to move the games “reflects the incredible momentum and appetite for NBA basketball in France, Germany, the UK, and the entire region,” according to NBA Europe managing director George Aivazoglou.

In the upcoming three seasons, the NBA made the commitment to host six regular-season games in Europe.

The first regular season game for Germany will be in Berlin.

Matches will take place in Paris and Manchester in 2026-27, with those in Paris and Berlin in the following year.

Franz and Moritz Wagner, brothers who both play for the Orlando Magic, will re-enter their hometowns following the game in Berlin.

The Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks last met in London’s regular season game in 2019; the last of those games was a playoff game.

In addition, the NBA has previously played games in Tokyo, Mexico City, and Paris during the regular season.

The announcement reflects a wider trend of American sports changing their regular-season games to expand their fan bases in Europe.

Since 2007, the NFL has hosted games regularly in London, and Munich and Frankfurt have hosted them on alternate dates since 2022, with Berlin scheduled to host a game in 2025.

Portugal’s Joao Felix Joins Ronaldo At Al Nassr In Saudi Arabia

Portuguese international Joao Felix will join Cristiano Ronaldo in signing a two-year deal with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, according to the club’s announcement on Tuesday.

In 2019, Felix, age 25, made the big move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid, but his fortunes have since deteriorated.

“I’m here to make people smile.” In a video posted on the Riyadh club’s X account, Felix remarked, “Let’s win together.” He had signed until 2027, according to a separate post.

Following his six-year move to Atletico for 127.7 million euros ($147.37 million) six years ago, Felix continues to be one of the most expensive transfers ever.

Despite playing for Chelsea, AC Milan, and Barcelona, he has since failed to score more than 10 goals per season.

Felix will make $10 million a year, according to Arryadia, a sports newspaper in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia has resurrended football by investing a lot in European stars, starting with Ronaldo’s arrival in 2023, and the conservative desert nation will host the World Cup in 2034.

Many of the signings have been aging stars, but Felix and Mateo Retegui, both of whom scored the most goals for Serie A and joined Al Qadsiah last week, are in favor of this trend.

Theo Hernandez, 27, left AC Milan for Al Hilal earlier this month in a reportedly $29 million deal.

Top coaches have also been drawn to Saudi Arabia, including Simone Inzaghi, who led Al Hilal to a lopsided Club World Cup victory over Manchester City.

Felix will work for Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who was fired by Al Hilal in May after their semifinal defeat to the Asian Champions League.
